Traditional Dress of Kerala


 Kerala, located in the southern tip of India, is a state known for its unique culture and traditions. One aspect of Kerala's culture that stand out is the traditional dress worn by the people of the state.


   The traditional dress of Kerala for men is Mundu , which is a white unstitched garment that's worn against the  midriff with a matching shirt known as Veshti. The Mundu is  frequently worn with a cotton or silk capelet known as Mundu Neriyathu , which is draped over the shoulder. The Veshti is also worn with a capelet known as the Angavastram , which is draped over the left shoulder. 






For women, the traditional dress of Kerala is the Saree. It's a garment  conforming of a long blockish piece of cloth which is draped over the body. The Saree is worn with a blouse which is known as Choli and a petticoat known as Pavada. In some  corridor of Kerala women also wear a garment known as the set saree that's pre-pleated and ready to be worn. 





  

The traditional dress of Kerala isn't just limited to the Mundu and Saree,  still there are also a number of other garments that are worn by both men and women in Kerala. These include the Kasavu Saree , a saree made of golden or  gray - multicolored silk with a border of golden or  gray  thread and the Kurtha which is a long loose tunic that's worn by both men and women. 







One of the most distinctive features of the traditional dress of Kerala is the use of bright and vibrant colors. Sarees and Mundus in  tones of Green, Yellow and Blue are common and are  frequently adorned with intricate embroidery and beadwork.  


 The traditional dress of Kerala isn't just limited to the everyday wear and tear,  still there are also a number of special occasion garments that are worn on formal occasions  similar as  marriages and religious  observances. These includes Kuppayam, a Saree worn by  wedded women and the Thirumukku a head  garnishment worn by women on special occasions. 






In addition to the traditional dress Kerala is also known for its traditional jewelry. Women in the state of Kerala  frequently wear a number of traditional  beautifiers, chokers, earrings and nose rings. These  beautifiers are  frequently made of gold and are intricately designed.





   

The traditional dress of Kerala is an important aspect of the  countries culture and traditions, it's worn with pride by the people of the state. It's a testament to the rich history and culture diversity of Kerala, it's unique and distinctive aspect of  countries identity.
